Children's Liturgy of the Word

Children's Liturgy of the Word is a ministry that takes place during most Sunday Masses throughout the year from September through April.  It is an opportunity for children, as young as age 4, through those children in grade 4, to hear the Scriptures proclaimed in ways they can better understand.

Together they listen, sing, and pray.  Following the Gospel, the children are told a brief homily, but then invited to ask questions about the readings that they may not have understood.  Every week, each child is given the opportunity to share a prayer intention that they hold in their hearts.  Concluding Children's Liturgy of the Word, the children are led back downstairs to the assembly as they participate in the offertory procession.

If anyone has any musical talent or would like to share in this wonderful ministry, the Faith Formation Office is always seeking volunteers to participate as leaders, cantors, and readers.  Please contact Karen in the Faith Formation Office for more information.
